Privacy
Vashon-Maury Island Chamber of Commerce runs this site. This page says what this site keeps about you, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how to ask for a copy of it or for it to be erased.
Member records
Businesses that join the chamber, and the people the chamber lists as their contacts.
- What is kept
- The business name, address, phone, website and description; each contact's name, email address and phone; the membership level, status and renewal date; and the payment records. Card numbers are never stored here: card payments happen on Stripe's own pages.
- Who sees it
- Chamber staff and admins, and the member's own contacts in the member portal. The public directory shows only the listing the member chose to publish: business name, description, address, phone, website and photos. It does not show contacts' email addresses.
- How long it is kept
- While the business is a member, and after that. A lapsed or cancelled member is hidden, not deleted, so a returning member picks up where they left off. Payment records are kept for the chamber's accounting. An erase removes names, contact details and the profile, and keeps the payment records and counts.
Resident sign-ups
People who sign up on the welcome pages (New here?) to get the welcome checklist and the weekly deals email.
- What is kept
- Your name and email address, and the neighborhood and interests if you gave them; the date you signed up; the realtor whose link you used, if any; and the offers you saved and checklist items you ticked.
- Who sees it
- Chamber staff and admins. Member businesses see how many people used an offer, never who. Your realtor sees nothing about you from this site.
- How long it is kept
- Until you ask for an erase. Unsubscribing stops the weekly email; the record stays, marked as opted out, so you are not emailed again.
Newsletter subscribers
People who join the visitor list for the chamber's island updates.
- What is kept
- Your email address, your name if you gave it, where you signed up, and the dates you confirmed and unsubscribed.
- Who sees it
- Chamber staff and admins.
- How long it is kept
- Until you ask for an erase. You join only after you click the confirmation link, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. An unsubscribed address stays on file, marked as unsubscribed, so you are not emailed again.
Island accounts for the gig board, the job board and Viki
People who sign in to post or answer a gig, apply for a job, or offer help on Viki.
- What is kept
- Your name and email address; a phone number, bio, skills and a resume link or file if you add them; your listings, interests and applications; your messages; and reviews and references. You confirm that you are 18 or older when you sign up.
- Who sees it
- What you put on a listing or profile is shown to the people who view it. Messages are seen only by the people in the conversation, and by the chamber if someone reports a message. Chamber staff and admins can see accounts and listings so they can moderate.
- How long it is kept
- Until you erase the account. You can do that yourself from your profile page (Delete my account and data). It removes your profile, resume and contact details, takes your listings down and replaces your messages with a note that they were removed. Reviews and past gigs stay, shown as from a removed user.
Cookies
The site sets cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your own choices, such as the welcome offers you saved. One cookie (ch_device) holds a random id so a welcome code, a deal or a map sign scan is counted once from the same phone; it carries no name or address. It does not run advertising or tracking scripts.
Request my data
Use the form below. Choose whether you want a copy of your data or an erase, and give the email address you used with the chamber. The chamber replies by email, and may ask you to answer from that address to show it is yours.
An erase removes names, contact details and messages. The chamber keeps payment records, and counts that do not identify anyone (for example, how many people used an offer).
